I was published by PublishAmerica in November and soon found myself in a 7 year contract with a company who is, in my opinion, deceptive, uncooperative and greedy. They will show you "happy reports" from other newly published authors but if you want to be able to get reviews from more than one or two reputable review sights - BEWARE PublishAmerica. If you want to get your book on the bookshelves of the major booksellers NATIONALLY - BEWARE PublishAmerica. If you want your family and friends to be contributors to such an organization that I have described - BEWARE PublishAmerica.
PublishAmerica charges excessive prices for your book. The purchasers will usually end up being family and friends, people who care about you and want to help you, but they are only filling the coffers of PublishAmerica. They will say their retailer, Ingram, will offer returnability to booksellers and they do but they will only offer a 5% discount to them which makes it a nonprofitable purchase by the bookseller - barely pays the postage - not worth their effort.
