Jim Tucker nearly Doubled the cost of my freight, and held it hostage until I wired $2750 to Him

On October 1st I was given a freight quote to send a truckload from hartford Connecticut to Jupitor Florida for $1825.00. I agreed to the price, filled out the credit application and faxed it to the fax number printed on the application and schedualed the pickup for October 6.

I waited October 6 for the pick up until 3PM and the truck never showed up.
I called Brian, the customer service Rep that had given me the Quote, and asked me to fill out the credit application to find out what the problem was. He said that he had never received my credit application because the application form had the wrong fax number on it.

I promptly faxed it to the correct number, and Brian assured me that the truck would be at my dock in the mourning [october8] and would still be able to get the freight to jupiter by the mourning of october 9.

At 12:30 on October 7 I received another call from Brian saying that they had just cleared my credit and the truck should arrive by 1:30, and "Oh by the way, how much of the truck would my freight be using". I told him I was not sure, but gave him the weight and asked why. He then told me that I could only use 1/2 the truck, 27 feet, or I would be charged $400 for the additional space.

The truck that showed up at 2:45, which was roughly 2 days late based on the original schedual was a refrigerated van with corrigated ridges covering the floor making it impossible to load it to its best efficiency. When we finished loading the truck we had used about 38 feet.

I recieved a voicemail from Brian the next mouning saying that he had the driver measure the load and I was over 40' and they could not fit 4 more skids [8' based on there definitions of a 4'x4' skid ]on the back of the truck and it was imperitive that I call him to agree to pay even more.
When I called him back thev truck was allready 600 miles away, and he insisted that I would have to pay $2750 for the load. I told him I felt that was unfaire, as I was quoted $ 1850 for the same distance and weight only 5 days prior. He told me that he would discuss it with the boss and see what he could work out.
On the afternoon of the 8th I recieved a fax from him asking me to confirm that I woud pay the $2700. I signed it along with a note telling him that it was highway robbery to demand an additional $925, or 48 % more than the quote.
At 1:30 that day Thursday October 9 after I had signed there agreement and returned it I recieved another fax from tere credit department saying that they would not deliver my frieght untill the were wired the money.
I called and spoke to Jim Tucker the President of the company to try to sort things out, and he said that he didnt care what I said, and if I wanted my freight delivered he was going to need to see the money in his account, and if it wasnt there by the end of the day the freight would be shipped to a warehouse in Tampa unloaded and stored at my expense.

At 3pm I got to my bank and wired the money.
By the time the wire reached the account on friday october 10the truck was 500 miles away from the original destination, and did not reac Jupiter untill 6pm. Forcing the installers to wait 2 paid days at the dock for the load, and 4 hours overtime to unload the truck.
I was Screwed by Jim Tucker, Dont make the same mistake I did.
Choose a reputable carrier, and get a written contract.
