Initial meetings major lack in the amount of business tact

To be quite honest I must say that I am truly amazed at the number of stories "reports" & and rebuttals on this site; when I started reading these I had no idea it would run 20 pages deep. I can relate to a certain extent to what has been expressed within this site about this company as I have recently just begun to work with this firm.

Needless to say; I managed to pick up on enough signs that someting was wrong before obligating myself legaly or financially to this firm. It was during the second interview where I truly believed there was a major lack in the amount of business tact being used, as I will demonstrate further:

"I have not just fallen off the turnip truck" as some would say.

In my career more so in the past few years I have helped "Sales" teams drive somewhere between $135-$175 Million in new and reoccuring business. And I will tell you this for a fact: Any respectable company will give you all the information you require in order for you to feel confident in doing business with them.

Whereas, When I had the $10k sticker price thrown at me from this firm I glanced at the one page signature agreement and asked for a more comprehensive binding document. And out came another single page document. I use to have to write a 35-40 page contract for a $20k-$35k sale. Get the idea?

Sales 101: Do not make your potential customers feel good then try to make them feel helpless; unless you want to lose business.

Remember if you were to pay anyone or any company for a service then you are the boss and they work for you. Ask them for their resumes and portfolios. Get not individual references from them but company references that have placed some of their clients.

Throw out the idea of reverse SLA's where they would have to pay you predetermined amounts for failure of performance. It is an investment of your time and time does equal money.

Here is a kicker: Do what I did and in the first interview ask them right off the bat how they cover their cost. Is it the hiring company that pays the fees for their services or what?

Where is the revenue coming from to cover their operational cost? Do that and watch to see how they react.

I wish there was more I could do to help those that have had the unfortunate engagements with that firm.
