I had a truck leased to Uniersal for over two years without many problems. I was always paid as agreed and left alone for the most part. Although you get no assistance from anyone at corporate for any issues that may arise. You are truely on your own at this outfit. This was not a problem for me because I am very independent as a business person and dont recall needing their help. I was introduced to a Region Manager in the Birmingham area around June of 07. From the moment I first saw him, I thought he was a weak snake in the grass. There was somthing sneaky about him. He arranged secret meetings with a female business partner of mine. She told me of one occasion where he tried to get her back to his hotel room and even tried to kiss her. I was totally offended. I expressed my disgust in this matter and had no intentions of dealing with him again. I sent my driver to TX. After my driver delivered his load in TX I recieved a call from this Region manager and was told my lease was cancelled and my fuel card had been shut off. I had to come up with my own means to get this driver home. After doing so I waited over 45 days to recieve final payment from Universal. I did recieve a check which was shortpaid by more than $1000.00. To this day, I have not recieved full payment for work completed and have never been told why my lease was canceled with no explination. The only thing I could figure was he felt threatened by me and for questioning his immorale, unethical business practices.
