Wow! These young people are good!!! If your thinking of buying a puppy there. WALK AWAY FAST!!! They are a puppy mill and complete SCAM ARTISTS... I purchased a pup for my children for Christmas.By the time I brought her home (12/24) she was coughing. Christmas day she was lathargic and wouldn't eat, or drink. I took her to the vet the next day~he gave her antibiotics. A day and 1/2 later she still wasn't eating and was lathargic~I called my vet~he told me I have a very sick puppy on my hands and I should call American Puppy club and see what they will reimburse. American Puppy Club got back to me friday night (after they had closed~no witnesses I guess) and insisted that I bring the puppy in to them immediately (it was 8:15pm) so that they could get food in her. When I got there~they took my puppy, tricked me to sign a paper that said I was bringing the puppy back for personal reasons (not because she was sick) and that I could only get a refund of another puppy if somehting happens to her!??! Realizing my foolishness for signing that paper, I returned the next day and was able to get them to honor the original contract! I must note it took alot to get them to remedy it~they did try to scam me once again to sign another paper that basically said the same thing as the first!?!? There goal is to get you furthur and furthur away from the original contract! While I was there I had my puppy on my lap~and she could barely lift her head~they refused to let me take her home to my vet (some policy?!?!) they said she was under their vet care~but I found out later she was under NO VET care but rather she was being force fed by a VET TECH!??! YIKES.
This was the last time I saw her. On the phone I told them that she should be seeing a vet and that I was coming to visit her on sunday... The next thing I knew she had been taken to Rahway and I could not see her until she was healthy!!! UNBELIEVABLE~this was my puppy~and they had the power to keep her forever if they wanted!??
I was extremly annoyed with this~the person I was talking to on the phone was curt and basically laughing at me and making fun of my vet!??! SHe clearly was not trained as well in the proper way to lie and scam people.
One hour later~they called me back and said I could get a full refund~from their store no less! (in the contract they say it has to go through a 3rd party~ (WATCH THAT LITTLE TRICK) ~and here's the next trick~when I went to get my refund~they kept $135.00 of MINE because that is what the cost of the warranty (the 14 day one) costs!!! They don't mention that when you purchase your pup!!! HOPEFULLY people will stop buying their puppies there AND THEY WILL BE FORCED TO CLOSE DOWN THEIR PUPPY MILL!!!
It's all so sad. They are only interested in the MONEY! I have one more thing to mention~My 3 year old Golden is now sick because of their negligence of selling a sick little puppy!!! So, Basically I walked into their store, handed them $135.000 and for that lovely price I got to own a puppy for a day and get my family dog sick~so I can pay her vet bills now too!!! Stay away from american puppy club.
