My husband has been incarcerated going on two years and i feel that i have paid more than my fair share to global tel in order to maintain contact with him. Here recently i've had an ongoing account issue with them and each time i call i get an automated system that tells me that i have to wait for someone to call me back and that could take anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours.
I love my husband and try to talk to him as much as i can afford to. But after speaking one rude person after another my heart is truly broken if nothing is done about this company i will not be able to talk to him because i refuse to continue to be cheated out of my money and mistreated.
I just want to give you alittle insight on what's happening with me and Global tel: I made a payment back in August, now remember this is a prepaid account and then in September my line was blocked, so i called to check my account balance and to make a payment. I was told that i owed $410 and some change. I questioned the amount several times and was told that the system let me go over but no one knew how it let me go over that much when it only allows you to go over by $50 in the state of Tennessee.
After alot of rude reps and missing talking to my husband, i agreed to pay this amount. I called to make the payment and was told that i did not owe that much. So, i made $100 payment at the request of the rep. Now here it is November and i made another payment on the 3rd and my line was blocked again on the 4th. I called and was told that i owed $600 and something. I spoke with a rep/supervisor who said that she would reduce what i owe down to $100. I paid that on the 9th and my husband still can't call.
Today is November 18th and i just got off the phone with Global tel trying to find out why my husband still couldn't call and was informed that my account had been switched to a billed account but my service provider did not have a contract with this company. After waiting for them to call me back, getting hung up on and being transferred to a supervisor that was very rude and too busy trying to get her point across rather than listening to what i had to say, my account was switched back to prepaid and i was told that i needed to put some money on the account in order to receive any further calls because all the previous payments i had made were applied to the debt that i did, did not and did again owe.
If anyone understands or can assist me with this issue, please do not hesistate to contact me. Your help is very much needed because if i want talk to the love of my life then i will have to pay something and feel that this is so unfair. I have two children that have to support on my own and i can't keep supporting Global tel and we end up suffering. My husband made a mistake and because of it, this company is bleeding me dry! I made a vow to my husband when we got married and i'm sticking by him but Global tel is using this to their advantange. You have to give to get and they just keep on getting.
It is my belief that since they know they are the only company people can go through to talk to their family members who are in prison, they can charge what they feel like you should pay and either you pay it or you don't talk. We have got to take a stand or this will continue and i'm tired of it.
