I have a friend who is very concerned about an act of negligence or possibly unfair practices performed by the income tax preparor at one of the H&R companies in our city.
She states some time ago, she har truck was burgalized in which very personal items (ID/pocketbook/wallet) along with other things were stolen from her. They broke the windows for entry to her items while she was taking a power walk/exercise on the park trail.
Now, some time afterwards, she had her personals/ID replaced. Also, after these happenings she was notified by IRS (letter/mail) that she had received a refund amt. Of 2,914.37 which was the payment was being sent and filed over to her local H&R Block location at 3435 Austin Peay. My friend states she did not execute this request, also stating that she hadn't yet filed a tax return.
My friend states, upon receiving this fore-mentioned letter that she phoned the H&R Block location the returns were sent. She was directed to the preparor that transacted the tax return for an unknown individual who showed up in the H/R Block office. The H/R preparor stated to her over the phone that he was very suspicious of the person filing the returns because she didn't resemble the picture ID somehow. However, the lady produced the needed ID request (SS card/Driver's License) which might I add was stolen from my friends' possesion during the vandalism incident.
The H/R preparor continue to state how the whole incident seem fishy and especially with the picture match failure. He choose evidently to proceed the transaction inspite of his doubts. So she stated she then asked the H/R preparor to transfer her call to his manager - in which he did.
She states upon speaking with the H/R office manager concerning the matter she was told by her: That they had done all they could do and it was not her responsibility. My friend states the manager brushed her off to wait assumingly for her to look into the matter. My friend states the office manager was not professional toward her and displayed a very rude phone demeanor as well.
Unforetunately, my friend stated she has been waiting for a solution now for 7 mos or so and yet she has not heard back from the H/R Block manager or any personnelle for that matter.
My friend has asked me to help her or direct her to the right recourse to take for these actions because she is very disturbed by this. She states she feels that was negligence on the H&R part and she by right deserve what is her's. She wants her return... Point blank and have no idea where to go from here.
I am listing this concern on the usacomplaints.com because I don't feel qualified to help her and I wouldn't want to tell her the wrong thing due to any ignorance on my part. I do pray that some one out there can give me the direction to point my friend to.
