I responded to an offer for a bottle of hoodia for $1.00 plus shipping and handling. I got the bottle in the mail about a week later, no statement in the box, nothing by phone, e-mail, etc. I had a funny feeling about it, so I checked their web site and saw that they would be sending me additional bottles every month, that I was now "enrolled" in their program. These bottles of hoodia usually cost $49.95, but I was going to be getting them at a "special low price" of $38.95 unless I called to cancel. Well, I called and got no one. I left a message and wrote an e-mail to them telling them I did not want to receive any more hoodia and to cancel my membership. A woman called back and left me a message a few days later. She stated that she would cancel my membership and I "needed to do nothing". At the beginning of the next month, I see a charge on my credit card for $38.95 from this company. I called to find out why, and the man I spoke with said that it was for the bottle that I already paid $1.00 for and that if I did not want it, I was supposed to send it back. I told him I was told no such thing, I was told to "do nothing", but that I still had the hoodia and I would send it back, I just wanted my money back. He said it was too late. I am disputing this with my credit card company. I will never give out my credit card online again because of misleading "companies" like this one.
