My mother and I were outraged by how Hecht's stores treat the overweight customers. They had a great sale for the 4th of July, so my mother called me and we went up to our local mall. Mind you my mothers shops there alot, I do not, and probally never will again. She found some clothes she wanted to purchase.in the mean time, I'm listening to a woman ask one of the sales associates where the plus sized clothes were, she said upstairs.
Well, we were still downstairs looking around, the woman came back down very upset, she said to the lady, "Why are the plus sized clothes in a back corner of the store and away from all the other women's clothes? The woman laughed at her, seriously. She told the sales associate that this wasn't funny, that she felt very embarrassed and she was also upset that they have this big sale, yet just a few plus sized clothes and nothing to really choice from.
The sales associate was still laughing, she tells the woman, that no Hechts puts plus sized clothes were people can see them, there's no need. She kept embarrasing this poor woman, I felt really bad and couldn't believe that this associate thought it was funny much less believe that this was true.
Well, my mother said lets find something you'd like to buy, I told her what was going on and she said, "No way a store would be that way." Well, I like wearing my clothes baggy, so I said lets check it out and see if this is really true, that was I'll see if they have any baggy clothes I like. We couldn't find the plus section. After asking someone, we went to their undergarment department, sure enough, their was a little section of clothes back in the corner, you had to actually ask where it was, you couldn't see it. Now I understood why this woman was so offended.
I don't understand how a department store can get away with being so crasp. Do they think that only skinny people have money? This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. And to think that ALL Hechts are arranged like this, that just blows my mind. I will never shop there again. I'd bet someone could actually sue them for such discrimination. This is just truly absurd. I hope people think twice before shopping there again.
