Scott Lowery Law Office/CACV Of Colorado... Suing the poor to feed their FAT wallets!

My husband and I bought a vehicle off of a car lot in Tulsa Oklahoma in 2001 to 2002... Not sure exactly. We had a death in the family and my husband had to be admitted for grief counseling. We kept in contact with the finance company to tell them how the situation with our pay was coming along. It came apparent that we would never be able to get caught up on the vehicle payments and voluntarily let the truck go back. It was sold at auction and we haven't heard ANYTHING about this until last year.

I received a call at work from Nora out of Scott Lowery Law Office in Tulsa. I tried to ignore her but she kept calling me at work. I don't know how they found me in my classroom. After a while, I made payment arrangements with her for $25 a month. (Tells you how desperate they were to get money from me!) My job was with the public school and was as seasonal as school days were. I did not get paid when the children were out of school. Obviously, she couldn't get anymore money from me during summer break.

School started back up and I started getting the calls again. This time it was different people, same company, and they were MEAN! I got told how the cow ate the cabbage at my job... Did I mention I'm a co-teacher at a headstart program? So, not only did I have twenty 4 and 5 year olds running wild, but I had someone on my ear telling me what a low life I was.

This time I was mad and my husband had heard a talk show on AM radio about these kind of things happening and how people should deal with it. I investigated Scott Lowery and found all of the rip off reports on this site.

Well, the latest news is my husband and I both have been served garnishment papers at our jobs for over $10,699.49. How can both of us be garnished for the same amount? By the way, remember I mentioned that the vehicle was sold at auction a few years ago? If we paid the amount that we had already paid on payments, plus the amount that the vehicle sold for at auction, PLUS the amount that we are being garnished for, we would end up paying over $20,000 for a used 1998 Ford F150 pick-up.

We were served papers on December that suit was going or had been filed and then we received by regular mail papers after a supposed court date in September of this year (we knew nothing about it) and now our employers have received garnishment papers in this month of November.

My papers didn't even come to the right address but I guess because of the mail service knowing where the school is, it came and was signed for. The thing is, I work IN the public school but I work FOR a federally funded company out of another city. My headquarters didn't even get the garnishment papers that are supposed to be filled out... I did and I have them in my possesion right now.

What do I do? My husband's job told him they would hold off as long as they could on it. I'm going to an attorney tomorrow to discuss bankruptcy and this suit and garnishment. What is your advice? Thank you!
