On October 5 I made arrangements with All American Movers NY to move my furniture from Fort Lauderdale, FL to New York City, NY. This was an experience I hope that no one ever has to have. I recommend that you do not consider All American Movers NY if you are going to move, even one block.
Here are the facts. The move date was scheduled for October 18. They quoted me a cost of $1255.35. I packed all my own boxes so all they had to do was wrap the furniture and pack the truck.
On the morning of October 18th they never showed up. At 3:00 in the afternoon I called All American Movers to find out what happened. NOTE: they didn't call me. They told me that the truck was full and therefore didn't stop to pick up my belongings and they never called to tell me.
They then rescheduled for Monday, October 25th. I told them that would not work because a hurricane was scheduled to hit Fort Lauderdale that day. They told me it was not a problem and assured me that they would be there. Well, a hurricane came and they were not able to get to me. Again, no one called me. I contacted them and they said they would have to turn the moving over to an agent of theirs in Florida because they were so backed up. The turned the move over to Shiva Transport Inc. Of Hollywood, Florida.
I was forced to evacuate my building because there was no water or toilets, and I had no food or a car (I had sold my car because I was moving to NYC). I was forced to leave my household items and fly back to NYC and wait until I could get back into the building all at my expense. A month later I was finally able to get into the building and the movers showed up.
I was told by All American Movers that Shiva would honor their estimate and that they would also give me a special rate since they had messed up with the move. Well, I was wrong. Shiva billed me $3299.00 and would not go until I paid them. So I was forced to pay them that amount when my original estimate was $1255.35. There was no negotiation.
When my furniture arrived in NYC, there was as broken Antique Table (leg totally broken off), a statue of marble was totally broken (this could only have happened of they had dropped it off the truck), and the frame of an antique mirror. All of these items were packed by Shiva. Nothing of what I packed was broken or lost. The estimated value of the items was over $1500 (original purchase value the statue could not be replaced). I was reimbursed $138.
Therefore beware of All American Movers they don't honor t heir commitments or promises. Seek a reliable mover All American Movers is not to be trusted.
