Allen and Associates pulled me in on a free resume critique, then started proposing a campaign of writing a new resume, cover letters etc., a broadcast of my resume to companies in my line of work, a switchboard service to collect all the responses, and book filled with information which can be found elsewhere on the internet for little or no cost.
I did get the new resume, not a whole lot different than the old. I collaborated with a counselor on identifying companies that my resume could be broadcast to. I was told the letters were sent, and I waited anxiously for the responses. There were no responses, not one.
I was told to follow up with the companies broadcasted to, a bunch of mostly HR department personnel, not the decision makers.
The price for the "priceless information and help" a mere $2000. This company and others like it pray on the unemployed who are going through stressful times of looking for a job, have a limited or no income, and can least afford to be ripped off.
