From my experience and others I have spoken, Banfield Pet Hospital conducts in the sale of their Optimum Wellness Plan Enrollment plans in a realm of deceptive, unfair business practices, breach of warranty, and negligent misrepresentation.

I have several grievances however in actual fact my purpose of retaining a pet wellness plan is to receive competent vetinary care. The day you join their pet wellness plan you are most concerned about the health or injury of your animal. I have attempted to request responsibility and resolution to the unwarranted pursuit of detrimental actions to my credit worthiness caused me by Banfield Pet Hospital.

My encounters with their administration people employed at their centers are not properly trained or competent to convey the terms or conditions to prospective clients. They market this plan from a brochure they point too at these operations do NOT clearly and precisely explain the terms and conditions to their wellness plan to you.

In fact you are so distracted with the well being of your pet and no one explains what you have signed and that it may involve requisite or non binding terms and conditions. No one clarifies, explains, understands, delineates, or cares too look out for your interest, but they are instructed to request your credit card. This is simply wrong.

I consider this deceptive, unfair business practices, breach of warranty, and negligent misrepresentation.

I had complained to them during the course of 2003 for the following:

Transient nature of their Vets inconsistent and poor care
Rough handling of our pets
Unskilled and uninformed personnel

I consequently cancelled the plans and informed Banfield that I did not want to continue.
They did absolutely nothing regarding or as alternative too my complaints. Nor did they explain their course of action when I cancel. They intentionally keep it a secret.

My belief is they designed these plans on the premise of bait and switch as my participation in their Wellness plans to revert to retail rates for services used. Only after I have attempted to apply for Credit did I realize the outrageous damage this company is inflicting upon my credit worthiness and others. I dispute their allege and inflated debt. I am outraged that they can take advantage of many vulnerable people.

A bait and switch argument is further supported that they are selling a low margin wellness plan and to recover the costs associated with marketing Banfield pet hospital recognizes that a large percentage of enrollee's cancel for a variety of reasons.

Statistically they charged exorbitant retail rates for alleged service rendered, and then if you complain or cancel you are left with a big surprise.in addition Scott Campbell CEO has trained his staff to hide and not address real serious concerns that interfere with One's credit worthiness, their disclosure, or let alone their responsibility in the delivery and conveyance of good care and communicative service.

Enclosed is an excerpt from an email from a representative of the company who casts the penalties to me with any warnings!

The services provided to Susana before her wellness plan was cancelled were $601.80. When Susan cancelled the plan she had the option of paying for the services provided or paying off the remainder of the wellness plan.in Susan's case, it is much cheaper to pay off the remainder of the wellness plan and fulfilling the contract with Banfield.

Now I have a collection agency alleging that I owe $300.00 to Banfield. I certainly will not tolerate this unknowingly shake down. My bruised credit history, general reputation, and ability seek credit now and in the future are damaged as result of Banfield Pet Hospital's realm of deception.

I believe I have a cause of action under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and The Fair Debtors Act.

Banfield Pet Hospital is a Scam from the onset. They hire incompetent Vet Personnel who could never be in private practice themselves.
