July I obtained my credit reports from consumerinfo.com. I used my CREDIT card to make the legitimate purchase of $29.99 for the reports. Several months later I saw a charge of $79.95 on my BANK statement from CIC Credit Monitoring. Please note, my credit card was/is in no way linked to my bank accounts.??? I called CIC Credit Monitoring's phone # 800-220-2626 and after a ridiculously long hold time I reached one of their representatives.
I disputed the charge with him, explaining that I in no way authorized the charge. He said that I signed up for an annual membership and he had all of my information on file. He would not reverse the charge. I then asked him to cancel my membership and delete all of my information from their system. He said that it would by done within 2 days. On March 3 CIC Credit debited my account again for a second time.
This time I am definitly going to take all possible steps to get my money back. I reported the fraudulent activity to my bank and will contact my state's attorney general's office to resolve this matter. After my money IS returned I am closing the account so that cannot happen again. Warning! Cancelling your "membership" with them is NOT enough to stop the unauthorized charges!
