The forms that I filled out did NOT have my social or any real sensitive information on it. However, I'm glad I was skeptical enough to dig deeper. I started by looking up the address in all 4 countries. When I didn't see the name of the business at any of the addresses, that threw up a red flag for me. I then looked into the domain name. I saw that it had only been started less than a month ago 6-22. I sent an email to the "HR Manager" because his emails started coming in a few days after Joy Little's emails above. They are as follows.

My name is Andrew Faulkner, Senior Assistant of the HR Department and the Special Projects supervisor.
I received your file from Ms. Little this morning and I will be responsible for assisting you with your training.
Your training begins on Monday, July 27, and will last until August 24. Our final test is scheduled on the same day.

Starting next week, I will send the studies to you via e-mail. There will be 5 studies per week,
one for every day (usually sent before noon) and a short test each Friday.
On Monday morning, please expect your first study and all of the instructions.
All in all, the training is not difficult. If you have any question, please call or e-mail me.
The other important thing is to check the address I have on file for you:
406 Star Ruby Dr., Knightdale, NC 27545

Please let me know if this is the correct one, as it will be used for your salary.
Please send me a short note to confirm you received this e-mail
and if the address we have on file for you is the correct one.

Then:

Mr. Dyer, I just wanted to write a few words to you concerning the company, as I thought you might be interested.
The company is expanding over the United States and Canada at the moment, starting from the Atlantic coast
and moving to central states. We are in the process of planning a massive advertising campaign in the autumn of 2015.
However, at the moment, we don't have offices in most states and we want to have at least one authorized
representative in conjunction with the states we are currently interested in.
Our core competency is the transportation of heavy machinery equipment, industrial equipment, and oil-mining equipment,
which is a very difficult and expensive method of transportation. Each single shipment costs several thousand dollars,
while equipment being transported may cost millions. Most of the clients require special attention to their transportation,
so you will be busy scheduling and tracking them, ensuring the flow of documents, occasionally meeting the cargo
at the delivery point with an insurance agent, as well as providing full-time customer support for our clients.
The position requires both customer care skills and mechanical skills, so the authorized representative will be
familiar with the various types of equipment being transported. There may be short business trips, but they will
never go out of state and the days spent on trips are paid double.

Attached you will find a short FAQ on the position and basic company activity.
Joy may have showed you one, so let me know if she did. Please take a look through it and let me know where you stand.

Q1. Please define in better terms the job i am actually being considered for.
A. The title?
Projects manager
b. The percent of phone conversations in typical day?
20-30, the rest is document flow and correspondence. You might have a few business trips each month to meet the cargo or make
sure it is prepared for shipping. Trips never go out of state and days are paid double.
C. Considering the fact that this is a global company, what are the traditional hours of operation from my end?
Your working hours may vary since you will work from home. The standard working ours for north america are 9:00 to 5:00 local time.
D. What is the percent of computer utilization? Will i be working from a computer terminal most of the day?
90 computer + phone/fax. We will provide all necessary equipment as our company utilizes only apple products and we have the same standard for all offices.
E. What is the percent of direct customer contact will i have?
You will be assigned to 2-3 customer companies, but it depends on their size/importance and the amount of their annual transportation needs.
You will be in direct contact with them, scheduling their movements, signing contracts, and providing all types of support.in other words,
you will be our authorized representative in your state.
Q2. Will i be an employee, sub-contractor, or consolidator for applegate l&w, llc? How will i be paid on a us w-2 or an irs 1099?
You are a sub-contractor at the moment and you will have a 1099 form sent together with the stage 1 paycheck. After that, you will become a full time employee paid on w2.
Q3. What is the most popular shipment for applegate?
Our core competency is the transportation of oil mining equipment and everything related, such as pipes. 75 of our shipments are done by freights and then delivered
to our customers from closest ports via truck/train. Ground transportation is mostly done by third party companies, however, we expect that by the end of all
on ground and air transportation on the atlantic coast and in the central states will be done by our own trucks by 2016 in all states.
Q4. Do you do more interstate, intrastate, or international shipping?
We do more international shipping, but we are planning our expansion in all areas.
Q5. To what state or country do you ship the most products and what are those items?
90 of shipments are in europe and almost a half of those are in the mediterranean area. We also have a few clients in the persian gulf and asia. The european
market is still very slow after the economic crisis, so the company decided to start in the us and canada by opening a ny branch. We do all types of industrial
transportation. The only thing we don't do is private transportation and we don't plan to.

Please let me know if the FAQ was helpful to you.

Thank you,

Then:

Mr. Dyer, in this e-mail I have attached the first portion of the training course for you. Please
take a look and let me know if anything is unclear. Please read carefully and reply with any questions
you may have. You will receive these studies every day for next 4 weeks. Every Friday, you will receive
a short test for them, as well as the final test after 4 weeks. Your training paycheck will be sent to
you as soon as you complete at least 4 weeks of training.

As for the documents, you can study them during the weekend if you are busy on business days. Please
still attempt to confirm the receipt of each single study so I know that no studies have been missed.
The tests that take place on Friday have to be completed and returned to me before Monday at noon.
The test will not be difficult if you read the training documents. You can use also the studies for
reference. Please let me know if you have any questions so far. I will call you later this week to
introduce myself and give a voice to a name.
Also, please confirm that you received the attachment. It is sent in PDF format, let me know
if you require a MS Word file instead.

Then I sent this:

Andre,

Quick question, I was reading through the documents, and also did a bit of research on Applegate Logistics and Warehousing. I noticed that the website was just recently launched in June of this year. How long has Applegate been in business? Why did Applegate just recently decide to get a domain name? I'm just trying to be as informed as possible.

Kind Regards,

I haven't heard back yet. I just hope that the information that they already have isn't enough to create some sort of fraud on any of my accounts. I wanted to put this out there incase any of you are going through the same thins. Be safe out there!!
