I was called and asked if I would like to participate in a few new productions that Univison would be creating. I was told they were looking for new talent. I thought to myself, I have experience on set as a Host and I am a professional with a degree. So I drove an hour away from my home to this "so called production", when I got there, it was simply the man himself "Armando Rubio" alone. He did not mention once productions regarded to Univision AT ALL. He wanted to "represent" me. He asked me to cold read. Although I could edit the sheet of paper he gave me grammatically and punctually, I decided to just read. After, he said "Just like I thought, you look good on paper but still need some work". I can help you with a $300.00 payment. Imagine my anger! I thought to myself, I sat in traffic and I took me about 1.30 to 2 hours to get here! He showed me his work, which was cheap and simply unprofessional. He added, "If you leave here today to think about this, I will probably not help you tomorrow. Any person who is serious about their future would go and sell a piece of jewelry and bring me the money." I looked at him, I smiled, asked for my head shots, grabbed my resume from his hands, and very professionally walked out of his offices (which by the way are small and look mediocre).
Now, I know a scam artist when I hear one. I want to help whoever is out there and is called by this "Armando Rubio". Do NOT go! Save yourself the $20.00 of gas, the trouble, and the embarrassment. I still have no idea how this man received my number. According to him, Univision gave him my information "because they saw potential". Sounds very unrealistic, don't you think?
Always remember, in this business a person who asks for money up front is a SCAM ARTIST. Especially, one that uses a well known Network like Univision.
