My wife and I were approached at the Garden State Mall by a young female who insisted in us giving her our child's information (name, age, and our phone number) because our daughter looked as good candidate for modeling. Then, we received a call from the company's office giving us an appointment for an interview. They called us 2 times to confirm our appointment.
My wife asked if there was a fee involved. They said that there was no fee, that our appointment was with the director, and the company was going to cover the fee. After we went for the appointment, a young lady introduced herself and said she was one of the directors. She proceeded to interview our 3 children and then showed us a catalog with pictures of children she described as her models.
After informing us that there was going to be a huge number of companies contacting us for different kinds of work (modeling, acting, singing, etc,) we asked again if there was a fee. That is when we were told that the only fee was for the pictures sessions and printing. The fee ranged from $850 to $1,500 a session (depending on the number of outfits, from 1 outfit to 4).
Luckily, we were able to avoid this scam thanks in part to observing one of the photographer taking pictures of an aspiring model in the parking lot. This gave us the impression that this could not be a professional bussiness.
