Feature Films For Families
Fraudulent billing and refusal to refund after returning merchandise

Feature Films for Families called me last November to get me to renew my membership with them. I don't have any young children anymore so I said I really didn't want to renew, but they kept telling me how they had new movies for adults and that it helped support their cause. Reluctantly, I said I would continue with the same membership that I had previously had for 13.74 per month for one DVD per month.

They tried to pressure me to get the upgraded membership for an initial charge of 29.85 and then 19.50 per month for twelve months, but I said, No thank you.
I was charged $29.85 for the upgraded membership on November 6th and sent a box of 15 DVD movies. I was charged again on December 04 for $19.50.

I was so frustrated. I put the box in a closet and I did not call Feature Films for Families until January 8th, because of being so busy during the holidays. On January 8th, I called Feature Films for Families and I talked with a man named Doug. I told him that I did not order the upgraded membership and that I wanted to send the movies back and get a full refund. He told me that he could not refund me anything over 30 days, but that I could keep four of the movies and he would refund the most recent charge and cancel the membership when he received them. I reluctantly agreed.

I asked for a confirmation number but he said they didn't have any and that everything would be taken care. I sent the 11 movies back that week via U.S.P.S.
The movies I recieved were all very old. Most of them made in the early 1980's with really bad acting (many of them I had seen years before). The four DVD's that I kept and watched were very disappointing.

After waiting 18 days and not seeing any credit to my account, I called Feature Films for Families on January 26th, to inquire about it. I talked to Dave Nelson. He said that on January 16th, they had received the box of eleven DVD movies that I had sent back to them.

I asked why I had not been credited back the $19.50 as promised, and he said that the four DVD's were worth more than what I had previously paid and so he would not refund me the $19.50. I told him what Doug had said, and that I had not ordered the upgraded membership in the first place, but he would not budge. I told him I would have returned all of the movies if I had not been told to keep four, and return the rest for the refund of $19.50. I asked to speak with Doug, but he would not let me. He said he was Doug's supervisor. I asked to talk to his supervisor but he said she was not available either. I asked if I could leave a message for her, but he said "No".

What started out as a family oriented business seems to have turned into a money making scam.
