I responded to an ad for a film audition, instead I got an e-mail from "WOLA Talent" asking me to come to one of their "registration events", They have no physical office address and no phone number, but claim to hold these "registration events" in "Hollywood".
The ask for $30 up front registration fee and make no guarantees for any jobs (see image), in other words, there was no film project, no audition, and no job. On top of all that they wanted me to pay them money for them to find work for me, an established world-class performer.
There are additional fees, for booking and monthly fees, plus update fees. Asking me to pay a lot for someone who wants to originally pay me to work for them.
It is illegal in California for any agency to charge talent (employees) up front, no employee would pay a company to work for them.
Any company that charges their employees to pay them to work for them is a SCAM. Watch out for "WOLA Talent" or the e-mail "[email protected]", it's a SCAM.
Even companies that claim to "find you work" if you pay them up front is also a SCAM and illegal under California law.
