Serenity House is a For-Profit business which takes advantage of desperate recovering addicts and alcoholics and their loved ones by taking a large "Deposit" at the onset of the sober living arrangement and then evicting the tenant, often without any evidence of relapse, but only after collecting rent for a new month. Thus, the turn over rate in this "Sober Living Facility" is high but not due to just cause. The Sober House atmosphere is corrupt and greed driven rather than positive and supportive. The owner, Leland, manipulates his resident evictions always after collecting a new months rent thus gaining greater monetary gain by a high turnover rate versus actually creating a positive environment to become sober.
