A scammer on SKYPE has contacted a friend of mine and has extorted money from her with lies which were not evident immediately because of his continual communication with her, gaining her trust. This went on for months, so when he fabricated that he was shipping his payment in gold, it appeared that he was telling the truth.
The other thing that seemed even more promising was that he used a delivery service online that actually allowed tracking of the shipment which made it appear to be true. Then there was a snag where a clearance had to be made as the shipment was stuck at customs in another country, which in this case was Turkey. With continual dialogue with the shipping company, it became apparent from some errors that this was a scam.
