However, over the past few years, given the poor job market conditions, I find that most of these fairs have become nothing more than stalking ground for people looking to take advantage of people who are in desperate need of help—in the form of real, paying jobs.
Specifically, today's fair, hosted by Choice Career Fairs, at the Red Lion Hotel was an extreme let down. Bordering on a waste of my valuable time and somewhat disgraceful.
I spent time and money getting prepared—suit cleaned and resumes printed up. Well, not ONE vendor wanted to take resumes and only one vendor had an actual HR person to talk with. To boot. There were more schools there looking to recruit students then hiring employers. And several "employers" looking for suckers to take on board as entry sales reps (Commission only)—Thanks but I have no use for a job that does not provide an income while I am working hard to learn a new trade.
It is hard enough being out of work and demotivating when you can't even get a call back from Wal-Mart. Taking time to drive and talk to people who really have nothing that offers real potential.
Tried calling them. But number listed is fake. And when I tried to post a complete on their contact page... It would not let me submit. The verification code just kept telling me wrong entry.
I have been around long enough to know a Scam racket when I see one. These guys should be fined and reported to the authorities.
