IT all started one day when i was job searching walking business to business asking if they are hiring and putting in applications. Well I decided to stop in this place called Decorative Electro Coatings in Daytona Beach, FL i asked if they were hiring and they said no but Jonathon Asher who is a subcontractor for the said company was there and he said he had some sandblasting work for me and i was told to be back to D.E.C.in the morning at & 7am so i did from then on i was told to find my own way to shop in Ormond beach FL
So i did as i was told he told me i had to be to his shop by 8am every weekday morning and i was told i had to work til 5 or 6 i did this for a lil while and he said we got paid by the job but everyday i came in he would never let finish one job he put me on..
First we started sandblasting these wrought iron gates and using airplane paint stripper to strip 30 yrs of possibly lead based paint. During this time he hired another employee who said he was a sandblaster and he automatically started him at a higher rate of pay than me even though we were both laborer employees for him.
And when i started asking about when we were going to finish the gates he would blow me off and tell he pays me to do what i am told... So the first couple of pay days i made about 200 one week and 250 the next... But on the second paycheck he didnt have enough money to pay us in full so he paid me like 100 bucks and said he would pay me more when he gets it.
So I started looking for other work because it seemed like we never finished whatever he started me on. I was hired on as a apprentice to his auto body work he does. I told him from the begining i had never done that kinda work before... So seemed like he always tried to put me on stuff i knew nothing about or how to do and when i asked for help he would show me real quickly and walk away but never actually tried to teach me and i told him i didnt think that kinda work was for me and that i was better at the sandblasting...
Eventually i caught on he wasnt going to pay me what i worked i would work a whole week to receive 50 dollars on fri. So i quit
Then about a month later he called me up saying his other employees quit and he had some sandblasting work for me... And then he came by with a contract saying i would get paid 300 a wk if i worked 35hrs a week for him and that on my first pay check i would get a 100 advance the first week back to work because the pay would be offset a wk and i would receive the rest the following fri... So what i ended up getting paid was 50 dollars the first friday and i checked with him over the weekend for the rest of the advance. He kept blowing me off. Then the next friday came around and i got told he wasnt going to pay me anything..
Because i supposedly marked up a catamaran boat with black marks on the inside of the boat... I used what was given to me to clean the boat which was a pressure washer with a black pressure hose and no helper... And supposedly i messed up other stuff around the shop. The fact is i worked 42 hrs that week and because i quit after finding out i was the only employee not getting paid and that he was using me... Now he doesnt want to pay what is owed to me i am a expecting father who has been dealing with unemployment for 3yrs and i keep running into shady employers like him... I take the job because i am searching for work so hard...
So I called the labor board on him and got told they cant do anything to him because he makes less than 500,000 a yr and he is too small of a company for them to do anything about it... Basically i was told to sue him or just do nothing. I have no money to sue him. I am still struggling to find work...
Please someone help me he owes me $250.00 that's a lot of money to me...
