I registered with viaziz.com and all over the website it says that registration is free.
You come to screen that says
Securely Add Payment Method
Please review the below information. Your account will be credited with 150 customer credits when you add your payment method and click finish. This is a secure environment, protected by Thawte using 256-bit SSL encryption.
I naively assumed that this was for id check purposes or to make sure that I was able to participate in the auctions, NOT that a payment would be taken from my account.
A few minutes later I discovered, that my card had been charged with £99.99.
I checked the T&Cs and did find that this procedure is stated in there (unfortunately)
The wording is
9. You agree that once you enter your card details and press 'Submit' you have confirmed that you wish to have your card debited for the stated amount and you are fully aware that you WILL be charged for your selected bid package and that www.VIAZIZ.com will appear on your statement
I checked the citizens advice website, which states that for online purchases, I have
"the right to change your mind and cancel within seven working days of first placing your order, receiving the goods or signing up for a service"
I e-mailed viaziz through their website (a separate e-mail is not given), requesting a refund and the account to be cancelled. This was less than 5 minutes from the transaction. So far, I have not had a reply from them.
The page from which the money was taken is very misleading. Also, it is actually very difficult to find the T&Cs, as the only link at the bottom of the page is labelled only as "terms". I went through all the obvious links at the top before commencing the registration and it says everywhere that registration is FREE.
