My son and daughter in law gave me two ceiling fans, as a gift, that they purchased from menards. These fans did not include the light kit, but since they were wired for a light extension, I went ahead and installed them with the intention of adding the light kit later. Today my wife and I visited the menards store in Jefferson City, Mo. We were unable to find a kit that would match the fans, so I asked floor salesman for assistance. He seemed less than excited to assist us from the very beginning, but reluctantly stopped whatever he was doing to address our questions. After I showed him which fan I had already installed, he quickly told us that we could not install a light kit on that particular modle. I was not convinced that he was being straight with me, but asked if we could return or exchange the fans. He said we could return them as defects, but would only refund the lowest price they had ever been on sale for. I explained to him, again that the fans were wired for a light kit extension, and could not understand why a light could not be added. He insisted that it could not be added to this fan. We left the store believing we would have to write it off as a loss. However we decided to go to our local Lowes store. There we were treated quite friendly, we're able to purchase a light kit that matched our fans perfectly and I was given a 10% veterans discount to boot (something that Menards would never do!). Today Menards probably lost a customer. Way too go lowes!
