Received a letter in the mail saying I was a winner of the UK & North American Shoppers Sweepstake held in the Uk. I won $150,000. My name was apparently selected by a computer database when I shopped at one of the North American department stores: WalMart, Sears, Costco, Home Depot, Office Depot, Staples, Walgreens, Best Buy, Kmart, etc (they basically covered all the stores that most people in North America go to). The envelope also contained a believable check for $3,750 drawn out of my winnings to pay for nonresident tax for the UK. They told me to contact a claims agent. I called, but I got the machine that said "Our inbox is full" and then hung up on me. I then looked it up the sweepstakes on Google, and the first sites that came up were scambooks' with many complaining of this scam. I also looked up a list of scams and frauds, and The National Lottery was one of them. I'm very glad I figured it out before I lost money!
