I purchased a big package and sat back to watch some auctions. It became abundantly clear that this was a huge scam. The same "bidders" would keep bidding up multiple unrelated products, on different pages throughout the site at the same time. This indicates that DealFun has their own bidding bots that keep pushing the price up while forcing honest bidders to continue bidding, both increasing the final sale price as well as the number of purchased bids required to win. Bear in mind that the average cost of each bid is $. 35. Basic math shows that they generate multiple times the retail cost of a given item just through the bid costs, making the final sale price immaterial.
After discovering the bidding bots I requested a refund through their "live chat" customer service function. I told them I thought it was a scam and why and they immediately refunded my purchase. We'll see if the credit actually goes through on my card.
