My mom is moving from her 4 bedroom 5 bath house and has a lot of furniture to be stored/moved. We received 2 pods and filled them up using every square foot of room and was going to receive 4 more pods but the movers figured we only needed 3 more pods. So we cancelled the 4th pod and received 3, but these 3 that were sent were considered "long distance pods" even though it was a local move, and were 3 x 3 x 3 feet smaller than the previous 2 pods that were sent. I called the pods 800 number and spoke to Nathan, a rude and apathetic customer service rep. Who told me that the difference in space was insignificant. He said that with that size difference, only a "basketball" would be able to fit in that size of space. 3 x 3 x 3 in each of our three pods comes out to 9 x 9 x 9 which is a significant amount of space considering we had many, many boxes that could fit that space easily. Needless to say, we were short by about 8 boxes and now have to get another pod at the last minute because we only have 3 more days to move out. If pods would have told us ahead of time that we were going to be losing that much space, it would have been a different story, but they were not upfront about it and the customer service was very very unconcerned with our "little" problem. I do not recommend using pods as they are fairly expensive to use and seem to hire customer service reps that could care a less about their jobs. Think twice before using pods and always ask if you are getting the long distance containers or the local.
