I received a letter in the mail on August 4. From the company SMG Performance Marketing Inc. It contained a check for the amount of $1,950.25. It was to perform a job as a mystery shopper. I was to take $1,400.00 and evaluate Western Union, take $100.00 and go to one stores listed (i. E Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Best Buy, etc.) and what I bought was mine to keep as a bonus. $350 was my salary to complete the two evaluations. I was to fill out a sheet based on different aspects of how the store I evaluate performed. I was then to fax the sheet, reciepts and any needed paperwork to validate the "mystery shopping" experience. Luckily I didn't deposit this check into my bank account, however I did take it to a local check cashing location and there they alerted me of the scam. I called the company and said the check wouldn't cash, and they alerted me of your scam. She then hung up on me and I haven't been able to reach them since. Never take a check or anything from someone you know nothing about and deposit it into your bank account because they can get that valuable information and cost you money in the long run. Thanks to my parents for teaching me the valuable lesson of "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!"
