I moved in this apartment beginning of February. Everything seemed to be working fine, until I got my first water bill. My water bill was 80.00. I called the city to see what was going on with my water bill. They suspected a silent water leak. They said they even notified the management here at the apartments when they saw the huge amount of water usage from my meter and gave me the exact date they notified the management here. I went to the office and at my property and spoke with them about it. They sent a maintenance guy over. He said he thought it was probably my toilet leaking inside... I told him I haven't heard anything... He said with the old systems in some of their toilets they drain water and they leak silently inside. He then replaced the equipment inside of it and said that should fix it.

I then called the city back and told them what it was. They mentioned I needed to call customer relations for Lindsey and Associates and speak with September, because this was not my fault. This was due to Lindsey having faulty toilet upon move in. The city even stated that the water usage spiked the last 2 months before I moved in. So Lindsey should have already had it prepared. Then I got another bill in the mail a couple of weeks later for another 80.00. This was during the period between my first bill being sent and the date of repair. After I paid 160.00 in bills, my water bill was back to normal from the repair. When September at customer relations looked into it. She said she wasn't going to help reimburse me. She tried to flip the responsibility on me saying I should have notified them as soon as I knew there was a problem. I told her I did, but I didn't know until I got my first bill. She then stated that the company wasn't responsible for they didn't know either. So I mentioned yes they were responsible because a resident expects things to work properly when they move in and not be surprised with high bills due to not having properly running facilities that come with the apartment such as toilets. She then stated Lindsey and Associates doesn't reimburse for toilet repairs. I told her that is not right, me as a renter should have everything working properly upon move in. After debating with her for a while longer she said she had to treat all her residence the same and if she was going to to anything for me it wouldn't be fair to others. She then argued using the lease saying that unless there was a time lapse between my repair request and them fixing it they would be liable for that part. I argued that that is not right, me as a resident didn't know the toilet was not working properly upon move in, it wasn't making any noises and anything... Considered a internal silent leak. She said that's not a silent leak, I was like yes it was I couldn't hear anything and the toilet wasn't running water from what I could see ever. She still said sorry not their fault and refused to even meet me half way. I argued that it was more their fault than it is mine and they don't even care to meet me half way, cause they didn't get stuck with the bills. I said this is a morale thing. When 2 parties are wholy responsible, they should work together to meet half way. She still refused me. I let her off the phone at that point.

In short, Lindsey and associates realty doesn't care about their residents and doing what is right. A very immorale company during hard economic times for renters and people alike. They don't care to even take care of their residents except for smoke and mirrors. I'm ashamed at them, I always considered them a good company to rent with, I'm not rethought that decision and will let everybody I know how I was treated. If I can just get a few renters to rent elsewhere or buy property elsewhere, they will lose a lot more business than just 160.00 or even meeting me halfway at 80.00. They will lose several thousands. Smart choice Lindsey and Associates, word of mouth will kill a business and I plan on doing that to the best of my ability and I have a lot of friends and business owner friends in NWA, I know I will make an impact. I got friends in other realty companies other than Lindsey and I will send people everywhere but Lindsey. Once again, good job Lindsey and Associates, thats a good way to run a business... Lose thousands and getting a bad word of mouth rep over 160.000 or 80.00. Sad business ethic is my final words on Lindsey and Associates Realty in Fayetteville AR.
