A VRI company representative called to advise they had a cash buyer for our timeshare property and the buyer was ready to go ahead and had placed a down cash down payment of 30% to complete the deal. VRI wanted an upfront cash payment of $2,390 from us to cover closing fees. I was reluctant to provide same but they had such a great sales pitch aong withpromises which sounded legitimate.
After making our payment as requested, they were virtually impossible to get in touch with by phone, would not call back after I left messages and the promises proved to be lies. With the help of our credit card company, we got our money back.
From now on, we willNOT accept any dealswhere they are asking for upfront fees and we will complete a much more in depth due diligence on the caller. All I can say is be very very careful... They speak a good line, lie through their teeth and are never around when the deal is to be closed. Thios appears like fraud to us but no one at the government level appears to care and put a stop to it.
Scam/fraud/scam/fraud...
