Through Editor Carolyn McKinney, I contracted to write an article for Glance magazine. I completed the assignment and Carolyn McKinney gave it high praise. Carolyn McKinney and Glance magazine did not pay me for my work. I involved writer's advocate Angela Hoy of WritersWeekly. Carolyn McKinney referred Ms. Hoy to Glance magazine's "publisher"
Anthony West, who told Ms. Hoy I would be paid by March 12. The payment never came. Carolyn McKinney and Anthony West stopped answering Angela Hoy's e-mails regarding my payment. The complaint against Carolyn McKinney, Anthony West and Glance magazine has been published in the WritersWeekly column Whispers & Warnings. It contains documentation of how these deadbeats robbed me of my professional time. Obviously, they are without conscience in defrauding freelancers.
Additionally, Glance magazine claims it partners with domestic violence victims assistance groups. Glance claims it gives a portion of each subscription price to these charities. I notified the charities I had been defrauded. They answered saying they had no idea they were a philanthropic associate of Glance magazine.
And, Glance magazine is offering a subscription sweepstakes with a Mercedes, $10,000 and a trip to Las Vegas as supposed prizes.in light of the publication's behavior, it seems possible that this subscription come-on is a hoax and a scam.
