Haus Juris German Shepherds
SCAM - Warrenton

My fiance and I just purchased a German Shepherd puppy from Megan and we are appalled by this breeder. She refuses to sell any of her puppies for less than $2,500, yet would only let us look at ONE of them (a pick of her choice). She promised us we would love the puppy that she was showing us, which happened to be the case, yet I still find it to be an odd and slightly shady way to sell puppies to someone (especially after claiming to be such a reputable breeder). She also told us that the puppies are so expensive because of their prestigious bloodlines, and their ability to become champion show-dogs. However, we have yet to even see any papers of our newly adopted puppy. She also claimed to be the number one German Shepherd breeder in America, yet I saw no hard evidence of such a claim, other than a few trophies in the corner behind the receptionist desk. None of which were shown to us, so that we could even read what this breeder was truly awarding her for.
This puppy also had a noticeable bump, that created a slight mohawk of hair, on the center of her head. Megan promised and guaranteed that it was just a pimple that they had popped and that it would go away in a few days. Then she forced over $200 dollars worth of food and toys on us, claiming that the puppy "NEEDED" to start out feeding on this type of wet food. The toys that were forced upon us were claimed to be toys that she has been supposedly playing with for a while, and "NEEDED" to have to feel comfortable in her new environment. So of course we wanted what was "best" for our new baby and we gave in. We later came to realize that our puppy not only refuses to eat the food, but also never plays with these toys that we spent a fortune on.
What we are the most upset about is Megan's inability to return our phone calls. We took our puppy to the vet 5 days after adoption, for her first checkup and asked about the supposed "zit" on her head. The vet examined it and diagnosed the bump (and also found another) as sebaceous cysts. These cysts will continue disappear and reappear, and will rupture causing the dog to become prone to infections. The contract we signed states that if there are any congenital defects documented by a veterinarian within the first week upon purchasing the puppy, a refund will be given in terms of a new puppy from the next litter. Well we called within that first week, following the rules of the contract, to notify Megan of the defect. We ended up having to leave a message with her receptionist who said she was away for the weekend but would call back Monday. We have called multiple times since Monday, and still have heard nothing back from her.
Megan promised us that the puppy would have no health issues, and so, in being so expensive she guaranteed we would be saving tons of money on medical bills (or lack thereof, I should say). Anyway, we are now faced with a bill of over $300 to get these cysts removed from her head. Moreover, the scars from this surgery will now prevent our puppy from ever being qualified to be a champion show dog, which we had planned on training her for. Her show dog ability was a lot of the reason Megan had convinced us to adopt her.
All in all, I am appalled by this breeder. She lied to us, scammed us, and now is ignoring our phone calls. I don't recommend anyone buy a puppy from her.
