I couldn't agree more with the complaints I've read. I contacted Tuff Shed thru an online inquiry and started talking with them over a year ago about a garage we wanted built. I quickly found out, the sales person is only there to answer your calls, otherwise they provide NO service, NO follow-up, NO value, nothing. The sales guy came out to give a quote back in the summer of '08 and that was the last I heard from him. We were both busy starting new jobs and didn't have time to chase down the sales guy to close the sale for him.
So a year passed and our need for garage increased. I called Tuff Shed again and was unfortunately assigned the same rep. The same frustration ensued and I found myself trying to close the sale for him... Again. Outlining exactly what I wanted, correcting his math mistakes, correcting my order where he missed some customizations, and on and on. I finally had enough of that rep when he insisted my father (who was visiting from out of town) listen to our conversation since I was apparently not capable of talking about these things myself. My father immediately laughed and said "it's not my garage or my business" but the rep again insisted saying I could really use my father's advice and direction. So I called his manager who was very accomodating and apologetic and assigned me a new sales person. The new sales person was nice, I'll give him that, but again, provided NO service and NO value. If I wanted answers to anything as simple as, what will my garage look like, when will you begin building, where is my invoice, when are you going to come back and finish what you started a week ago - I had to call and ask. And that still didn't mean I would get the answer.in fact, I'm still waiting for an invoice, proof that the garage passed inspection, not to mention the return of the $500 survey that I had to buy before building the garage.
Additionally - the rep told my concrete guy the wrong specs for the concrete which ended up costing us another $1K of concrete. I understand Tuff Shed is not in the concrete business - but know your stuff or DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL.
I could go on and on about all my frustrations with Tuff Shed, but the net of it all is, we went to Tuff Shed thinking we would avoid all the headaches of dealing with contractors and be able to get a building built in a shorter amount of time. None of our assumptions were true. They are a very difficult company to work with and offer absolutely no value. They are very aware of my issues and have done very little to rectify - or even acknowledge them for that matter. You as a customer mean nothing to them. They just want your money, and in return will give you a cheap garage whenever they feel like it. Everyone's money is valuable right now and Tuff Shed only cares about getting their own... Nothing else.
