A group of ten of us were hired to start a new delivery company. We worked 80-100 hour weeks to get everything up and running by hiring drivers, building relationships with store owners, and making sure the computer systems were up in the stores.
Our first two paychecks were both two weeks late with the explaination that because the company was new they were having a hard time getting the funds disbursed to pay us. Are drivers were not paid along with ourselves but we were told to keep the drivers in the stores no matter what it took, that this was just a short term problem. I still have drivers who have never been paid. Along with myself and the other area reps, who are owed in the neighborhood of $3000 apiece on average.
We were laid off on the 13th of October when they shut down the Tampa market where we worked. Our drivers were still not paid and neither were we. This was a period of four weeks that we were not paid for.in addition to that, we were promised gas cards, car allowances, office supply allowances, etc. Which we were paying out of our own pockets.
Needless to say that when we were told we would be getting that money back, we have yet to see any of that either. We still contact DSI to see if we are going to be paid they say they our working on it. The labor board in Ft Lauderdale is in constant contact with them and still nothing has happened. The markets that they opened in Florida have all been shut down now, but they continue to open the markets that were scheduled to roll out across the country (Washington DC, New York).
Some people are getting paid, the people that are in the front office and that are still working for them. I know of one of my fellow Area reps from Tampa who was given a part of what he was owed under the stipulation he fly to New York and help open up that market. The day he was supposed to leave he changed his mind and said he wasn't going unless they paid him everything they owed him, and they voided the check he was given. This has been a nightmare for all of us. The reps in Tampa are about to lose everything they own, our cars, our homes, etc. Anything that you all can do to help us would be greatly appreciated.
