Terry Allison is a pathetic, abysmal low rent con artist. He comes on the internet ranting about Rolex, Patek, etc but the bottom line is simple.
Rolex produces the most rugged watch in the world. I've owned several Rolex watches over the years and have found them to be well built, some of the current watches have had warranty issues but they were resolved. But I can unequivocally state that rolex watches are 100% swiss made. Rolex has always produced ALL of their own movements for the Datejust, President, Submariner, Seadweller, Miligauss (Still have one of these, but they are out of production) Airking, and oyster quartz. However the Daytona has used a different supplier of movement, they used the ETA/Valjoux 7750, then the Zenith movement, however Rolex S.A. Has purchased Zenith so now 100% of the rolex line from the air king to the daytona and the Cellini has a ROLEX made movement.
The Tudor watches feature a rolex made case with a ETA movement. There are very few parts on a Rolex that are outsourced, the most significant is the dial.
Patek, their watches are what every other company strives to be. I liked the mini rotor ever since I first saw it on a Hamilton Thin-o-matic. However every patek is built to the highest standard in the world
As to Patek, Rolex, Vacheron being overpriced. The answer is yes and no. Yes in the price you pay for an immense advertising budget. Yes the respective manufacturers have a pretty healthy profit margin built in. And yes manufacturers price respective to the country in which they sell their wares. And you also pay for the prestige of the name. But think of other luxury products such as british cars. A Jaguar (prior to ford taking it over from british leyland) a unreliable car that required extensive maintance that was quite costly yet jaguar was and is revered as a players car, in england you can see older jaguars in demolition derbies, and being piloted by kids who just got their license (same thing you see in the US with old 80's caddies). Yet the market share for jaguar continues to grow same thing for Ferrari, and Rolls Royce, you never see a ferrari or rolls with over 100K without an engine rebuild, yet I have seen honda accords with 300K
Bottom line is Rolex, Patek, Audemars, Omega etc are extremely high grade timepieces, they perform a specific task with deft aplomb. And you pay a pretty penny to strap a fine timepiece to your wrist.
A Montres Allison reminds me of a old Timex Automatic, with the lack of finish to the movement etc. However that comparison is grossly unfair to timex, because a timex actually comes with a warranty, a 5 year warranty ($5) and makes a great work watch and costs under $100 which represents a good value. Not to mention the electroplating is vastly superior to the montres allison.
Terry Allison is a hack, an imbecile, and a dolt. His accusations toward rolex are enough to get his sorry ass sued to the poor house (you don't think rolex can subpoena IP addresses) Not to mention his accusations leveled at ShopNBC which is owned by GE who has more staff attorney's than the green giant has peas.
What really astounds me is that Allison has sold $8 K in merchandise between oct 9 - oct 28.

My Advice if you have purchased one of these turds is to immidately contact your credit card issuer, as well as paypal, and send them the URL to the www.timezone.com article also eBay has a limited protection (up to $500) as for filing Postal Fraud charges you are out of luck, as long as they delivered merchandise they are out of the reach of postal inspectors but USC Title 18 and fraud by wire and the mails could be the way to pop them since they grossly misrepresented themselves, their product, and their products value. File a Police report, and fax a copy of the police report to your local FBI office as well as the FBI office in colorado, if they get enough complaints they might investigate. I have contacted Rolex USA regarding the slander perpertrated and they seemed quite interested, I will give them a follow up call, who knows they might reward me with a new SS oyster band for one of my submariners.
