I purchased a DVD from Caseys on Friday, 26 March. I have never purchased a DVD from a convenient store before and now I know why I have always resisted from doing do. I bought the disc and took it home. While watching the movie, I realized there were 3 places on the disc where it skipped approximately one minute of the movie. Really hard to grasp a movie when you don't get to see the whole thing.
I had not gotten a receipt the day I purchased the movie, however, I thought if I contacted the person I bought it from, I could get my money back or switch for another movie.
I returned back to the store on Monday, 30 March at approximately 6 AM. I was on my way to work at the military base I work at and thought I would stop and take care of the situation quickly. I first talked to the woman behind the counter. She indicated that even without a receipt, she believed me if I said I bought it there. Here I stand in my uniform, combat patch, 17 year veteran, and I hear Mr. Rasmussen say, "without a receipt, I can't take that movie back. For all I know you bought it somewhere else and are trying to bring the damaged disc back to Caseys". Fair enough, I guess taking the movie back without a receipt, you are always gambling a little. Having said, that, I felt completely disrespected by Mr. Rasmussen, the store manager. I would think that me standing there in uniform would have some bearing on his decision.
Mr. Rasmussen was rude, disrespectful and didn't seem to mind who saw him treating me like this. While I stood there in line, there were an additional 2 or 3 people in line behind me.
All this said, I want Caseys to know that I will never step foot into another one of there store. This is a very small town and word of mouth goes a long way in a community like this.
