Houston Garden center
We have grass but not for you

In Houston this year we have had many hard freezes. These hard freezes have killed grass of many home owners including myself. I went to the Houston Garden center on many seperate occations trying to buy grass, only to be told they were out. I went at various times of the day including showing up 10 mins before they opened. Keep in mind that they have a semi-truck trailer with a giant sign hanging on it that claims they have grass - "we have Grass." Each time I showed up there was a landscaping truck there that had already loaded the last of the grass into the back of their trailer. How this happened before the store was actually opened, I do not know. This is just wrong. Here is a garden center that is supported with business and purchases all year long by the many home owners who live right around this store. As one of these home owners, we buy things from this store all year long. What makes me angry are these landscape companies who only buy from whatever retail store that gives them the best deal or has their items available to them. These landscape companies will roll in and are allowed to buy a whole pallet of grass from the Garden center; thus leaving none for the local home owners to buy. The houston Garden Center offers delivery of grass by pallets, directly to most addresses - it says so right on their website. So why can't the Houston Garden Center make these landscape companies -who need a full pallet of grass - purchase this online and have it delivered to their jobsites? This would leave some grass available for the many many home owners in the area to actually get some grass as well. It is wrong to sell a whole pallet of grass to a landscape company, who is able to order it online and have it delivered to their jobsite. It leaves many of us simple homeowners who give this company business all year long, without the grass we need. Moreover, The Houston Garden Center knows that we in Houston have had several hard freezes this year and they know that alot more grass than normal will be needed due to freeze damage here in Houston. So do they double their grass shipments? No, they don't! When I asked why, I was told it would turn yellow before it could be sold... This is rediculous... I complained to the manager everytime I was there to try to get grass, which was absolutely no help - and no less than 20 to 30 people interupted us in conversation, to ask if they had any grass available. To which the manager had to say no. I have no doubt that this grass would go very fast even if a double order was shipped to this location. To be fair, I tried other Houston Garden Center locations and got the same treatment and responses. At the Hwy 6 @ Little York location, I complained to the MGR and overheard a landscaping foreman actually laughing at our conversation as he loaded up a palet and a half of grass, before the store was even open. This is wrong in so many ways. What makes things all the worse is there is no way to get a phone numbers for the many Houston Garden center locations to call them and see if they are out of grass or not, because those numbers are not offered or published. Their website only gives addresses - no phone numbers. The houston Garden center also offers no way to complain about the service you get or offer a way to make input to the company for better service. If you go onto the internet and pull up the reviews for The Houston Garden Center you will see that 90% of the review are not just bad, they are horrid. I do know that The Houston Garden Center Seems to not care about anyone's complaint and they are no where near good at costomer service. I also know that they have several contracts with the City of Houston as well. I intend to write the city and make my complaints to them and to pull whatever strings I can to bring to light the kind of company the city is doing business with. I intend to also write the mayor and city manager's office and inform them of this companies treatment of their customers. Maybe if I complain enough and they lose some city accounts, they will get the message that they just can't run a business like this and get away with it. Maybe some home owners and I will get together and protest outside this company's property as well. Just tired of a double standard. And we home owners who support this company all year long, getting the shaft over a landscape company.
