I drove 3 hours to purchase a vehicle from Port Motors Inc. Gene Culligan and his unprofessional "convict" staff sold me a vehicle that was presumed to be according to the sticker on the windshield to being a despite the fact the owner Gene Culligan told me it was a 2006. I agreed to purchase the vehicle. During the signing of my finance paperwork, I learned the vehicle was in fact only a 2005. No huge deal as all these models look similar/same. After returning home I noticed the car was not 16k like Gene had quoted to me but in fact 20k. Wtf... For a no way. I called them only to be verbally abused by their finance guy Donald and he told me the bank charges the dealership fees that they could not afford to pay so they put the fees on top of my contract. Wtf... I called the finance company after being abused by Donald only to find out that this kind of practice in which the dealer put the bank fees on top of my contract were in fact, ILLEGAL. To my surprise my contract with the bank had not been finalized yet and whatever discrepencies I had with the contract / vehicle sale price was between me and the dealership. I notified DOnald in finance and Gene Culligan (*owner) I would be returning the car. I drove 3 hours back to W Palm Beach only to have the temp. Tag taken off the vehicle, the key taken from my key chain and my 3k dollar deposit still in their possession. When I asked for my money back as it's only right. Gene Culligan begin to tell me that he could not refund me any money then and that I owe him for the time I used the vehicle and for the mileage I put on the vehicle, per the Bailment Agreement I signed. He begin to tell e that he will mail me a check as he could not refund me any money right then. Not to mention I am not stranded 3 hours away from home with my 9 year old son. When I asked for the vehicle back so I could at least get my son home, he threw me and my son out of his dealership, stating that they were about to close, and I quote, he does not have time to deal with me and my indecisions.
On what planet is this a fair situation, I am now stranded 3 hours away from home with my son because they tried to bamboozle me and it did not work. Now you have my money and the car. One of his workers began to tell us to leave as they were getting ready to close the gate and lock it. It's dark and cold outside, I have no car, and my son and now looking at me like, mommy what are we going to do. You'd think these pigs would have at least had some sympathy for the situation and the fact that I was not a local resident and I had a child with me, NOT AT ALL. I saw the dealership was opened across the street so I went there to get my son in off the side of the road and use their phone book to find a taxi and see if I could find a rent a car place in the area. These unprofessional heartless fools had the nerve to call the dealership across the street to laugh at the fact that I begged for the vehicle back. I am a parent with a child so yes I did ask for the vehicle back, you idiots have my money, why send me on my way with nothing? Why in such an unfortunate circumstance as this one would they feel it's funny to send me on my way leaving me and my son stranded, with no car and no money...
My son and I ended up taking a taxi to Hertz, only to find out they were closed, then we had to stand outside once again, in the cold, to wait on a bus, that took us to the airport to rent a car, only to be sent away there as they would only rent to people with either a credit card or people with an airline itinerary ticket number, well I had neither so it's back to square one. At this point I had gone through at least 8 rent-a-car booths, and 2 hours later, we find ourself standing back outside in the cold weather at roughly 10pm at square one, now my phone is going dead. We catch another bus to a Dollar rent a car, who rented us a vehicle to get home. Being that it was a Saturday, I had to keep it at least until Monday, also since the drop off was a different place (Kissimmee), I had to pay 100 on top of their inflated fee because it was a holiday weekend, costing me another $457 to get me and my son home, but boy was it worth it. We had finally rented a car after 11pm that night. My son had not eaten anything but poptarts for breakfast and he was tired and had been running around all day with these heartless fools, now he could finally rest. I stopped at a local eatery to get him something to eat before he fell asleep.
To add insult to injury, I recieved a $256 speeding ticket on the way home. I was so tired and disgusted in this whole ordeal, I did not even realize I was speeding, just trying to get us back home. We arrived home a little after 330am.
It's Monday morning and Im calling Gene to once again see about my refund and I can speak with everyone but him. I call either he is not there, or he is busy, or he will call back, or they flat out just don't answer.
Port Motors Inc. Of West Palm Beach owned by Gene Culligan are heartless idiots who only care about you as long as you are putting money in their pockets, outside of that you are treated worst than a caged animal.
To date, they have my $3k deposit, plus the vehicle I signed to finance. Because of this ordeal I am also out an additional $700. I can't even get this trifling scumbag to return a phone call.
Buyers Beware, dont be so desperate to believe their fast talk, notice that the price they quote you for the vehicle is $3-$4k less than the price they sell it to your for on your financing paperwork. What a scam! Go somewhere else, then they try to finance you as long as the possibly can increasing your payments and interests rates. Be sure this is the vehicle you want and be sure to read all your paperwork, because shall you choose to return it prior to your deal going through you will be out of money JUST LIKE ME.
