My Fiance is trying to buy a house. So when they pulled his credit low and behold this company pulls up and he was surprised because this is the 2nd time he is going to make a major purchase and he didn't understand why it was there since he has never had any CC or cell phones etc..in his name until he had his credit pulled the first time to buy a car.
So he when he had his credit pulled by the lender to buy a house he wanted to know how to take care of it so the lender told him to call them and tell them that was not his. So my fiance' called and Palisades said that they would not cancel it until he paid (he didn't pay them and they wouldn't take any other form of payment except a Credit Card) and would not send any info to him if he didn't pay but they wanted all his info and my fiance' asked "are you going to pay me for my info?" and of course the guy said "we don't owe you money you owe us money. "So after all that and all the explaining they did nothing and then 3 days later he received some kind of bill for $60.99 that has been that amount for about 8 years or so whenever the account was opened also the bill had an address that my fiance' has never ever seen or even knows where it is. My fiance' never gave them any of his info. When he called them. Then Palisades started calling couple times a day after that. So then my fiance' called and wrote a dispute letter to all the credit bureaus telling them this was not his debt and he needed it removed. So the credit bureaus did a investigation and sent a letter back saying that it was his and that it is a valid debt because the credit bureaus called the collections and they said it was his but they had no proof but someones word. He is still in a query of how they can think this is his debt if he has never had acct w/Verizon Wireless and they couldn't prove it when he asked for something w/a signature of his on it. It just looked like a regular old invoice that they send to your house but not our address or even a phone number that we have ever had. So be careful w/Palisades Collections because they are looking for anyone that will just pay even if it's not yours so they can get their commission and bonuses from getting you to pay. BIG SCAMMERS!!! My fiance' still has not paid it because it isn't his because he would of only been about 17 years old when the acct was started. I wish my job was as easy as the credit bureaus/collection agencies to just call a company and ask if it was someones debt and they could just say "yes" and just type any old name on it w/any old address and the credit bureaus believe them. Then send a letter back w/out any proof but a collections agency word that it is someones debt. WOW!!! For that matter the credit bureaus are worthless too. Be smart and call from a pay phone if you are going to call them and don't give them any kind of info at all. All collection agencies are scandalous. We even had one call for our 2 year old daughter saying she owed for a debt. Lol... Now that's low... So where are they getting this info???
