My mother's horse just died and I was looking for a horse on the popular horse site, dreamhorse.com. I found a Gypsy Vanner gelding for $1500 - an unbelievably good price. I contacted the seller for more info and got several emails right away.
This is the content of the first email, actually, it is the second since I got two right away.

Each email included photos of two different horses. Tho one was listed as a mare, she had testicles. The gelding (castrated male horse) also had testicles. I started to get suspicious.
I went back through the ads on Dream horse and saw a horse that looked just like the one Educardo was selling but it was a different owner. I emailed them the photos and yes the horse did belong to they and not Eduardo. The owner expressed that this happens to them often.
I answered the questions Eduardo asked and sent a long response before I figured out that it was a fraud.
I got this second email, which is just like the other Gypsy Vanner scam listed on usacomplaints.com.

Flicker copes well in the absence of other horse and will do what other gelding can not.
Flicker is healthy and has no medical problem and has never been lame before. Flicker is broke to ride and drive.
Hay, haylage, grain, straw, barley and even grass, even fruits like apples. As of now the horse is not under good shelter because we are
new in this area. I am very good with horses so i train Flicker my self. We are giving Flicker out for an adoption fee of just $1500. Flicker was given to us for adoption and we promise we shall give Flicker to another home for adoption if we decide to part with him. If you are to get a trainer to train Flicker the guy will be 0 good at that. We are giving Flicker for adoption
because our son who was taking care of the horse passed away months ago through a car accident when he was on his way back from his piano classes, and we don't have shelter for Flicker since we are just new in this area.
The occupying nature of my job does not permit me to keep Flicker and i will like the horse to go back to where i was so that when ever i come back i will be able to visit him and his new family. Giving Flicker out for adoption will be a way of wiping my son's memories from my head which is making me disturbed each time i think of him.

Since we are far from you My husband has promised to get the horse registered to at cheap and reliable courier company that will haul the horse to your home address, as this will ease time and expense.
So how soon will you want us to start with hauling arrangements?
I will need your full details for the transportation. These details should contain your, full names, full home address, postcode, and
phone numbers. Both mobile and land line.
We contacted the Courier and they said hauling stands at $1400, and the adoption fee is $1500 so the totals will stand at $2900 Which will include the adoption fee and the delivery charges. But you will pay just an upfront deposit of $1400 to the Hauling Agency and when they deliver the horse at your residence you will make the balance payment of $1000.
You will have to make the payment directly to the Delivery Agency after they must have contacted you for confirmations.
Flicker is up to date on all shots, and will travel with all hard copies of them. Flicker will come with all his tacks and a pair a brown
leather saddle.

I am still playing him along but when I went to Dreamhorse the ad had been taken down after I filed a complaint yesterday.
No I won't be getting a Gypsy Vanner for Christmas and the biggest gift is that I got it figured out before I got burned.
I have heard that this same type scam is prevalent with Frisian horses, too.
