The rest of the story

On or about 8/16, i had a problem with one of the whirlpool hot water heaters (model fg). Called whirlpool, eventually got a return authorization number, and was told to return the defective unit to lowe's for a replacement. I contacted the manager of our local branch, and explained the problem and why i really did not want to replace my unit with another whirlpool brand. She explained that, if i had the reciept from when i originally purchased the unit, and the return authorization number from whirlpool, that i could return the unit and recieve a cash refund. However, if i did not have the reciept, the best she could do was give me a store credit for the amount of the original purchase price. She was very understanding and very helpful. I had the reciept, recieved a refund and purchased another brand of hot water heater.

Just wanted to put in a few kind words for the people at our local lowes. I do not have a problem with them, and was quite pleased with the professional manner in which they handled things. I will continue to do business with lowe's, i just will not purchase a whirlpool product from them. The only reason that i did not purchase the replacement heater from them, is that our local lowe's only carries the whirlpool brand of hot water heaters, and i had had too much trouble with the one i already had.

The problem we all have, is not so much with lowe's as with whirlpool. Just wanted to let people know the rest of the story.
