With the crazy economic times, I emptied my 401K to save for my daughter's college fund in a Suntrust Money Market. I left work to raise her. And last week I found out that Suntrust let some scam artist under the name of EME Marketing steal $1800.00 from my 2 year old daugther!!! I filed a fraud report, filled out a 35 page affidavit on the issue, spent 5 hours on the phone, traveled back and forth to the bank to stop the withdrawals and still SUNTRUST WILL NOT GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!
SUNTRUST IS LETTING PEOPLE STEAL FROM CHILDREN! Someone put in $350 in my account and then took it out and then took out $90 every two weeks for nearly a year! Someone with a different name and account number who has an account at the bank took a loan out wiht EME Marketing and SUNTRUST allowed them to take the money from my account out to pay it bank. I had nothing to do with any of it and SUNTRUST DOES NOT CARE! Through my phone calls I found out the persons name who was doing this and their account number and reported it to the bank and they still did nothing! I reported all this and followed the rules but they said "Oh, you should have caught it earlier. Too bad for you."
It is like they will let people steal from you and if they dont catch it — so what!!??? The person has a different name and different SS # and they did not care. Why did they let the person take the money out anyways? The name of the person doesnt even match my name! Banks are not protecting our money at all.
SUNTRUST let the person take the money and even when I found out and alerted them they did nothing! The withdrawals started happening right after a large deposit it probably was even some with the bank! Who would even know about that kind of activity on the account but a bank employee? This has been happening for over a year!!! All I do is deposit in the account and when I realized the money that I thought was in the account was not and I checked, I realized the bank was not watching my money.
They were letting some CRIMINAL STEAL IT!!!
Why do we have banks??? SUNTRUST gave me 2 months of the money back and said "Oh well, we did not catch it", and I as the bank account holder did not catch it so the CRIMINAL WINS. The child gets stolen from and the criminal wins when you bank with suntrust!
what should i tell my daughter? Sham sham on them. I really cant believe this. I hope everyone closes their account with them. They are worse than all the Bernie Madoffs in the world at least he did not steal from children! Do you know what the bank said when I asked about only getting 2 months of the money back? They said" that is all the federal government requires us to give you." Maybe CNN should investigate this aspect of banking. I bet it will find that SUNTRUST are doing this across the country.
