Celadon Trucking
Celadon Group Poor managment

This is a terrible company for employment. Truck drivers need to be very, very desperate to work for Celadon. The drivers manual is a piece of fiction; although, not good fiction or well-written. Human Resources has apparently not read the manual nor have they provided up-dated copies to the other company offices.
Ignore everything that you are told in training and everything written in the manual. Pray that the truck driving gods will protect you or find another company (my choice is the latter).
I am not surprised that the company stock is not doing well. My hope is that all disgusted and irritated Celadon drivers buy company stock (CLDN on the NASDAQ) and take over the company. The president and office staff should be terminated and replaced with people who really understand that money is made when trucks roll down our highways, moving goods. This is obviously not happening for Celadon trucks. Count the number of Celadon trucks to Swift, JB Hunt, Werner, and Schneider. Even Mesilla Transit has more trucks moving in the Southwest than does Celadon.
Dispatchers without truck driving experience should be fired. How do they understand that a driver cannot do 1000 miles in one day and not violate federal and state laws on driving as well as simple physics. Dispatchers with driving experience also should be paid a reasonable wage. When a company pays dispatchers miserably low hourly wages, the organization gets what it pays for. Zero minus zero is still zero. Hire good dispatchers with driving experience, pay them well, and keep the trucks rolling.
More automation appears to be needed so that shipments, distribution centers, empty trailers, and trucks are coordinated more efficiently. Current technology makes this possible with GPS coordinates. Idle wheels mean smaller profits for the company and less pay for drivers.
The president of this company, Steve Russell, needs to undertake a serious workflow analysis of contacts, rolling stock, and employees. I do not think this has occurred. One look at the company's statistics on the various stock market reports, which Celadon had to provide, should tell anyone with a lick of sense that there are serious, systemic problems within this company.
