Winners Choice Reading Club AKA Winners Choice Publishers is a franchise company affiliated with Winners Choice Publications out of Bakersfield CA.
The owner of the ATL company has also had a prior company in Atlanta GA from 1989 until 2000. The name of the company was CBI or Conzo Brothers Inc. That particular company was run by the two Conzo Brothers until they parted company. The younger Conzo and his entire family inclucing mother father and sister were busted last year in Atlanta GA for Telemarketing Fraud and other related charges.
The other brother which was my boss from hell for the past 2 years runs the Norcross Office under the name Winners Choice Publishers, even though the company is NOT listed as a corporation in the State of GA nor does it have a business license anywhere to do any business in the State of GA under that name. The actual name that IS listed is Winners Choice Reading Club, but that's only for the employee's paychecks.
The company calls Senior Citizens and other gullible folks from all over the nation (not from the State of GA) and tells the "customer" that they have been selected as a winning finalist from their state and because of their excellent Credit Card Company standing and that they will be guaranteed in writing to receive one of the following prices: $25000 in cash, a fully loaded truck or trips to Rome Italy or Hawaii for 4 all expenses paid.
Then the folks are asked what they will choose - the cash most say. The sales person then asks them to just keep and renew their reader's Digest for only 3.79 a week, that's all the publishers are asking the winning finlaists to do this year is to stick with them as a reader.
Most people are already seeing sweepstakes $ coming their way and they agree to purchase the Readers Digest for another year. On top of that they are being guaranteed $ 650 worth of free gifts a state of the art 35 mmm camera and a voucher for 100 rolls of Kodak Film.
The person then gets transferred to the "cappers Room" where these workers are trained to exrtract the Credit Card Numbers from the person under all circumstances.
I worked in that room for a while and it was the most lying heinous disgusting hellhole of a workplace in the whole wide world. The Seniors were coerced with high pressure to give out their CC #s. They were told if they were resentful that WCP has been doing business in ATL for over 13 years are in excellent standing with the BBB and the Chamber of Commerce, and that the lines were secured by "the Government and the Credit Card Companies"
Bullcrap, folks the Cappers write your CC info on a scrap piece of paper and it goes unshredded into the garbage cans where every hoodlum in that place can get to and go shopping with your info in hand.
Do not, I repeat DO NOT ever never ever never give out your Credit Card or Checking Account info to anyone on that phone you hear? NEVER! The company pretends to be doing everything "by the book" while in all reality they are a bunch of cheating unscrupoulous greedy liars, who care nothing about 80 year old people out there who are starving on their Social Security checks.
Buyers are Liars that is all you will hear at that place when you show some compassion and try to change the company's attitude. You will be billed your 3.79 a week at the tune of 12 pmts. Of $82.11 and you have just bought yourself a 5 year long subscription for an onslaught of worthless mags which you can change later but it is a pain in the butt and probably hardly ever works.
If you are careless enough to sign the so called Gift release Form for the worthless free gifts without reading the fine print consider yourself ripped off until Kingdom come.
If your Credit Card declines the payment you will be hounded by the company's so called Collectors, which are nothing but a bunch of aggressive rude and arrogant people who will hound you for months on end until you agree to pay the payments on time. DO NOT PAY! Contact your State's Attorney general, The Federal Trade Commission, the League for the Elderly, the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs and whoever else deals with fraud issues.
The company is also and has been for years committing Employee Status Fraud by hiring regular hourly wage earners and then declared them "Independent Contractors" for the IRS, when in all reality they were due Overtime Pay, and were supposed to have their taxes withheld and were treated as regular employees having to clock in and out and all that.
Actually we were kept on virtual lockdown up there all day. The boss fined us for being out sick even if we had a doctor's exzcuse and took money from employees checks in huge amounts as penalties and fines. The owner of the company will be dealing with the IRS Audit folks very shortly.
The United States Labor Dept. Is also on his doorstep for the Overtime Pay violations. He will be facing a lot of problems here shortly, but nevertheless his rip off business will go on until someone from the Government will actually see it all as it is and close him down. The owner of the company has a prior Federal Prison Record for Racketeering Charges. He is a ruthless non caring person who is only interested in one thing - getting over on Uncle Sam and YOU.

You are being lied to and conned by a bunch of low life professional scam artists who call themselves Citizens of the USA. Report this company immediately if they call you and hang up the phone.
