PODS seems like such a great idea, especially for a cross-country move: like putting all of your stuff in a moving van, but then not having to drive the van yourself. It just shows up on the other end, all ready for you. Right?

That... Sort of happened. PODS was due to deliver our unit on a Saturday morning, and we didn't see it until the following Tuesday. Frustrating. But more infuriating was the hours spent on hold (as cross-country moves can't be managed online) and the days spent waiting for a unit that would be coming "any time now"— so we had to be home to receive it.

So, all that earns two stars. The unit did arrive, after all, and with only minor damage to the stuff inside. But what really seals the deal with these guys is the execrable service we received, both in trying to *find* the POD (they didn't know where it was between Friday and Monday), and in trying to get compensation for the delay. *Hours* spent on hold. Outright lies from customer service agents ("I don't have a supervisor" followed by "My supervisor won't permit me to do that, " among others). Profound incompetence.

These guys may be ok when everything goes fine. But when problems crop up, expect to be bogged down in bureaucracy for weeks. Oh. And don't expect a compensatory discount for your trouble, either. For this SNAFU, they offered less than 4% discount from our very expensive move.
