Sent letter saying they were contacted by Publishers Clearing House to disperse uncollected winnings

I was sent a letter saying i was a winner of a contest and had not claimed my winnings. They sent me a check to deposit and then call them after the deposit to get furthur instructions on how to get my winnings delivered by special delivery with the Official publishers Clearing House Van. But first i was to send them an amount of $2996.10 through western union. Tis was to pay for the Govt. Service Tax and insurance. When i went to the bank they informrd me of this scam. This is when i went on line and did some research on this. The person i was to contact was Mr. Murphy Don. The letter was approved by Vernon Karrels (Vice-President, Global Marketing). I still have the letter and the check.
