Unique National Collection has been known to collect debts in states they are not licensed... Check your state. It may be illegal for them to report to the credit bureaus if they are not legally allowed to collect in your state... Check your state laws.
Unique National Collection has also been known to provide legal advise to their clients through pamphlets that are incorrect. It is not only wrong information, but they are not attorneys and are not allowed to practice law by giving legal advise... Check out what information the library you allegedly owe money to has received from Unique National Collection. If you find this to be true contact your state attorney general, and the Indiana attorney general.
If Unique National Collection is reporting an incorrect debt, talk to the person in charge of circulation for the library this alleged debt is coming from. If they have no record of you checking out the materials, or your presence as a patron of that library ask that they write that down for you in a formal letter on library letterhead (keep the original... Send Unique a copy, and all credit bureaus that are reporting the debt a copy as well as a letter asking that the debt be removed from the credit report).
Plus getting your local press involved doesn't hurt either... Call the local tv stations and newspapers where you live and in St. Jeffersonville, IN. Shame them into ethical and legal business practices.
