Stephanie's 2006 Harley Fatboy for $3800 on Craigslist

Stephanie has evidently been running a scam using a number of aliases, obtainable via Google, wherein she lists the 2006 Harley Fatboy and photos on Craiglist for $3800 or less using the story that she is recently divorced, works on a cruise ship, is in a hurry to unload the bike and has it crated ready for shipment at her expense. The transaction is supposed to be completed using the eBay escrow service (available only to vehicle purchases that were listed and completed on eBay).
Stephanie has perpetrated this scam on an unknown number of people.

The photos of the Harley shows a VIN which is invalid by my checks via several online sources and a police department. The VIN has either been altered for the photo, or altered actually on the vehicle, in either case a crime of misrepresentation, fraud, and VIN violation which in the case of using Craigslist constitutes a Federal Felony.

Inspection of the photos of the motorcycle show a LaPera seat (aftermarket custom item) Vance and Hynes exhaust pipes (aftermarket custom item) Chrome fender struts, foot pads, forward controls, hand controls, headlamps with visors, driving lamps and custom front turn signals, bullet rear turn signals, custom handlebars and risers, and custom teardrop mirrors (all aftermarket items adding to the original value of the motorcycle). Those observations along with the mileage shown of 1,066 place the estimated market value of the bike at $13,000 to $16,000 depending on geography.

Even the dumbest bimbo I know would have had the sense of a first grader to have asked someone what the vehicle's value was, and if not her supposed divorce would have listed the vehicle's value in the property settlement.
This scam is the same that I have encountered almost word for word from another woman listing another Harley on Craiglist. She claims that the bike is in Hawaii and like Stephanie, will ship it to you at her expense for you to inspect while using the escrow service of eBay.
A male ran this scam a few months ago, claiming to be a MSgt in the Air Force stationed in New York. The ad in Craiglist claimed that the bike was in Phoenix, but he eventually said that he had the bike with him on the base in New York and couldn't sell it there. He, like Stephanie, would ship the vehicle at his expense for your inspection, while using the eBay escrow service.
I had called eBay then and was informed that unless the vehicle had been listed and sold on eBay the escrow service was unavailable.

Buyer beware!

Do not part with your money until you can physically lay your hands on the motorcycle, or you will find that there is no motorcycle, and no more of your money.
