This started with a phone call at my place of work. The person on the other end of the phone had a thick foreign accent and there was a lot of background noise. He knew my name, some of my friends names and which bank I banked at. He also asked me to verify the last four digits of my social security, which I did not. He said that he was an attorney representing Cashnet and that I had not repaid back a loan that I had taken with them over the internet, consequently I need to get an attorney because in three days I was going to be arrested (picked up as he kept putting it). The whole time he was screaming this to me. It is very frightening and because they apparently have some correct information about me, it makes one wonder if one did something or not. I kept thinking someone must have done something in my name and now I owe these people money. I started loosing my mind. Then I looked cashnet up on the internet to see what this was and eventually came to the Rip Off website which had lots of cashnet horror stories. This is a very crafty scam because an older person or person not knowing may tend to think they owe something because these people seem to have a lot of personal information about you and it makes it seem real. I was scared to death. I filed a report at my local policstation but I am still getting calls. I have kept their messages on my answering machine at home. I keep getting these embarrasing and frightening phone calls at work. I intend to get to the bottom of this.
